The selection process for the upcoming COST Action CA24132 Mic2Food Training School has been completed.
Mycoprotein Production: From Upstream Processing to Downstream Processing, Product Formulation and Techno-Economic Simulation will take place from 22 to 25 September 2026 at the Poznań University of Life Sciences, Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition, Poznań, Poland.
The call received an impressive 206 eligible applications, reflecting the strong interest of the research community in mycoprotein, fermentation technologies and sustainable food production.
Following the evaluation, 14 participants were selected to take part in the Training School, including researchers at different career stages and with scientific backgrounds in food biotechnology, microbiology, fermentation, bioprocessing, cellular agriculture, food science, or related fields.
Over four intensive days, participants will explore the complete mycoprotein production pathway through a combination of theoretical sessions and practical training. Topics will include fungal cultivation and inoculum preparation, bioreactor operation, fermentation monitoring, downstream processing, biomass characterisation, microscopic analysis, product formulation and basic techno-economic assessment.
The Training School will also provide a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge with researchers and industry experts, gain hands-on laboratory experience and strengthen international connections within the mycoprotein research community.
We sincerely thank everyone who applied and congratulate the selected participants.
We look forward to welcoming them to Poznań in September!
